Tips & Tricks to Working with Vinyl Lettering Wall Decals

Surfaces recommended for application:

  • Vinyl wall decals apply best to smooth flat surfaces. The smoother and flatter the easier the application process will be. Our decals are specifically made for indoor wall textures.
  • Orange peel, knock down, skip-toweled textures are common application textures that our decals are used on. With that being said, not all textures and walls are made the same, and some may require added patience while applying.
  • The easiest surface to apply decals is to glass
  • Another popular surface is a sanded or painted wood board or a ceramic tile.

Surfaces NOT recommended for application:

  • Walls with heavy, thick wall texture are not recommended, however depending on the texture it may work. A tip that we would suggest is to make sure that you you don't select a small size decal as the delicate small letters will be problematic to applying over the rough texture and may look bumpy as the vinyl goes over the wall grooves, it may not give the best end result.
  • Surfaces with natural texture residue such as flagstone, brick, stucco, or rough/unsanded unfinished wood.
  • Something that we are just recently receiving feedback on is that walls painted with the combo Paint + Primer paint is creating a surface that the decals are not sticking to as well during the application process. These decals WILL stick, but may take some added patience while applying the decal.
